Three young cyclists, three nationalities, and three different profiles. The Cofidis team is proud to have these new trainees in its ranks from August 1st. These include the Irish Jamie Meehan, known for his climbing skills, the Italian Tommaso Dati, particularly comfortable in classics, and the French Léandre Huck, who impressed with his long breakaway at the French national championships. They are all eager to discover the professional world under the Cofidis colors!
Their coaches introduce them to us.
Jean-Michel Bourgoin, coach of AVC Aix Provence Dole: "Jamie is an excellent climber. He is a particularly determined young man. He wants to become a professional and it's clear he's doing everything possible to achieve this. In recent months, he has achieved excellent results, such as 6th place in the Tour of Valle d'Aosta. I'm very happy to know he will continue to progress with Cofidis. Our ties with Cofidis are strong, as demonstrated by the transfers of Christophe Laporte and Anthony Pérez. We are very proud to continue working with Cofidis with serenity".
Jean-Philippe Yvon from VC Rouen: "Léandre started cycling very late, at the age of 18. He played football until a bike ride where he impressed everyone with an average speed of 32 km/h! Since then, at ESEG Douai with Laurent Pillon and then at VC Rouen, he has managed to improve. He is the cyclist everyone dreams of having on the team: he is very committed, very diligent, very serious. At the French amateur championship, he formed a solo breakaway of over 100 km and was caught only 300 meters from the finish line. We have known for a long time that he was one of the strongest among amateurs. It is a source of pride and recognition to see him become an intern in a UCI World Tour team".
Marco Milesi, sports director of Biesse Carrera Premac: "Tommaso is a complete cyclist who performs well both on hilly routes and in classics. He can also express himself very well in small group sprints. Tommaso has won four times this season. He is a reserved guy who gets along very well with his teammates and knows how to guide younger teammates. In the last two years with us, we have seen him progress both mentally and physically. I am proud that Cofidis has chosen him as an intern: he deserves to have his chance at the highest levels!"
