There is a man who is currently cycling on the Tour roads: he was spotted on Saturday in Lille and yesterday he went out cycling with Thor Hushovd, the general manager of Uno-X Mobility. The man pedaling, wearing the colors of the Norwegian team, is no ordinary person: his name is Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and he is the greatest cross-country skier of all time. He is 28 years old and has won five Olympic gold medals, fifteen world championship titles, five overall World Cup titles, and seven discipline-specific World Cup titles.
His goal, of course, is the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, but after that event he might get on a bike - he cycles to train and because he loves cycling - and make his debut in cycling with Uno-X Mobility.
In an interview with Silvano Ploner from Raisport, Hushovd himself confirmed: "It's true, I cycled with Klæbo, it's certainly not the first time we've done this, and I can tell you he is truly exceptional. His numbers are also exceptional, but that's no surprise given his extraordinary track record in cross-country skiing. Can he race with us? At the moment, I'd say 50-50."
But the smile on Thor's face suggested he was slightly fibbing and that the scales were definitely tipping towards yes.
