In agreement with the team's medical staff, Eddy Finé (27 years old) has made the difficult decision to end his sporting career. The French cyclist from Cofidis suffers from an iliac artery problem that is incompatible with high-level sports. After undergoing three surgeries since joining the team in 2019, Eddy has struggled to return to competitions, and now the entire team warmly thanks him for his commitment and wishes him all the best for the future.
He is a smile, a certain gift for motivation, and a great teammate. For six seasons, Eddy Finé has been one of the faces of the Cofidis team. Over the years, he has established himself as a valiant teammate, always striving to give his best for the team in every race.
But his progress was slowed by a recurring issue. The cause: an iliac artery problem. In his first year as a professional, Eddy underwent surgery and explains: "With repeated efforts, the artery blocks and creates residues that cause endofibrosis". This condition is common among high-level athletes, particularly cyclists.
Despite a treatment protocol implemented by the medical teams following him and the Cofidis staff, Eddy had to undergo another operation in September 2024. However, during an intensive training session, "the sensations don't return". At the beginning of April, the cyclist underwent a third intervention, without success. In the end, doctors declared him unfit to practice cycling. "We have exhausted all solutions. I have no choice, I am forced to stop racing".
At the beginning of this week, Eddy went to Lille to meet the team's managers and end their common adventure. "Of course, it's painful, no one wants to end their career this way. I will be eternally grateful to this team, the only one I have known as a professional. I spent six years of my life here. I haven't yet thought about what I'll do tomorrow, but I will definitely remain a great cycling enthusiast and a Cofidis fan".
