Piedmont is ready to be the exceptional stage for the Vuelta a España 2025. Today, at the Piedmont Region skyscraper, the official presentation of the "Gran Salida" of the famous Spanish stage race took place, one of the three most important races in world cycling.
An event of international significance, as demonstrated by the presence of the Spanish Ambassador to Italy, Miguel Ángel Fernández-Palacios, who praised the close and fruitful collaboration between the Spanish organization and the Piedmont institutions.
The President of the Piedmont Region, Alberto Cirio, welcomed the Vuelta delegation led by General Director Javier Guillén, to present in detail the Piedmont stages of this special edition: it is in fact the 80th edition of the Vuelta, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the race.
The Piedmont territory will be the absolute protagonist, offering spectacular landscapes between Alps, hills, lakes and historic villages, crossing the provinces of Turin, Biella, Vercelli, Novara and Cuneo.
The Piedmont stages:
August 23 – 1st stage: Venaria Palace/Turin – Novara (160 km)
August 24 – 2nd stage: Alba – Limone Piemonte (160 km)
August 25 – 3rd stage: San Maurizio Canavese – Ceres (139 km)
August 26 – 4th stage: Susa – Voiron (207 km)
The official team presentation will be held on Thursday, August 21st in Turin, in the splendid Piazzetta Reale, while the first stage will start from the Venaria Palace, with km 0 set at the Fausto Coppi Velodrome.
Also present were Massimo Rosso, President of the Piedmont Regional Committee of the FCI, and vice president Pierfranco Gugliermetti, welcomed by President Cirio and Councilor Marco Gallo, representing the constant collaboration between the Region and FCI for the promotion of cycling in all its categories.
A collaboration carried forward also with the territories, as demonstrated by the participation of Alberto Gatto, Mayor of Alba, a city of departure for the second stage and a historic venue for youth races.
The exceptional testimonial of the event was Fabio Aru, the last Italian winner of the Vuelta and today an ambassador of the race in Italy. Aru has a strong connection with Piedmont, where in 2017 he won the Italian road championship title.
