The breakaway succeeded in the second stage of the Tour of Slovenia, the Velejne - Rogaska Slatina of 162.7 km. About 20 kilometers from the finish - after several unsuccessful attempts - a group of seven riders broke away and then contested the victory in a sprint: Portuguese rider Rui Oliveira from UAE Team Emirates-XRG crossed the line first but was later demoted to sixth place due to an irregular sprint, with the victory going to Swiss rider Fabio Christen from Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, ahead of Norwegian Anders Halland Johannessen from Uno-X Mobility. Nicolò Parisini finished eighth, leading the main group 53 seconds behind the winner.
Christen also takes the leader's jersey: he leads the general classification by 16 seconds over Johannessen and 21 seconds over Geoghegan Hart.
