
Great event on Sunday, June 1st, with the 40th edition of the Coppa Sant'Antonio Abate, paired with the 2nd Memorial Turi Cannavò. Promoted by the Amateur Sports Society Pedale Santatonese, with the patronage of the municipality of Aci Sant'Antonio and the Sicilian Regional Assembly, the classic, under the aegis of the Italian Cycling Federation, represents an important stage in the island's calendar, valid as the Sicilian Regional Championship for Juniors and Junior Women categories and the sixth Spring Trophy, for Beginner 1st/2nd year M/F categories
Mario Cannavò, general director and true soul of the event, explains: "I thank the Committee and the Municipality for accepting the challenge of organizing a regional championship: it is important to give prestige to our territory by involving the entire community. I have been experiencing this event for over 50 years, together with the passion for this sport that my father transmitted to me".
At the press conference, held in the City Hall's Meeting Room, Giacomo Gravina, regional vice president of the FCI, said: "I thank the municipality for the great attention it pays to sports and young people, significantly contributing to the development of social well-being and sustainability".
Also present were Mayor Quintino Rocca and Vice Mayor Salvo Conti, while Pedale Santatonese President Carola Cannavò states: "Our team believes in cycling and this sport gives us the courage to invest in the present for a better future. And in the Memorial Turi Cannavò we give value to memory, which is an important part of our being".
The best of Sicilian youth cycling will battle on Sunday to conquer the Sicilian regional title and leave their mark in the golden book of a event that has made and will continue to make history.
