From May 27 to June 1st, 2025, Morbegno transforms into the bicycle capital with the Cycling Week, six days packed with events dedicated to the world of two wheels in all its forms: sports, cultural, and experiential.
This is a unique opportunity to experience and discover the territory in a sustainable way, among legendary climbs that are now part of road cycling history, historic villages, original initiatives, and leisure moments perfect for all ages.
Cycling enthusiasts will find various events that are now part of the rich summer event calendar of Valtellina. A fixed appointment is the Giro d'Italia, which has long crossed some locations in the province of Sondrio and, this year, will touch Morbegno on Thursday, May 29, when the town will be the protagonist with the start of Stage 18: cyclists will depart from Piazza Sant'Antonio and then head towards Colico and Brianza, arriving in Cesano Maderno.
Continuing is Enjoy Stelvio Valtellina, another event that confirms the strong cycling vocation of this territory: on Saturday, May 31, the San Marco Pass will be closed to motorized traffic from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM to allow cyclists and hikers to enjoy the beauties of this territory in total tranquility without the presence of cars.
Completing the rich offering of this week will be several side events, always linked to the world of two wheels: from May 27 to 29, the splendid Chiostro di Sant'Antonio, part of the former Dominican Convent, will host the exhibition "The Evolution of Cycling in the 20th Century" where, for the occasion, historic bicycles will be displayed. On May 30, the historic center of Morbegno will come alive with the Pink Night: until midnight, shops will be open and there will be live music to allow all tourists and residents to spend an evening of fun and carefree enjoyment after a day spent cycling. Last but not least, on Sunday, June 1st, Giro in Cantina is scheduled, a completely free e-bike tour that develops along the picturesque Costiera dei Cech, crossing historic villages and vineyards, offering a panoramic view of Morbegno and lower Valtellina up to the nearby Lake Como.
