On the roads of Ragusa, the 23rd edition of the Giovanni Cannarella Memorial for Allievi, Juniores and Under23 categories took place as traditionally scheduled. After the first day dedicated to the Monte Lauro Time Trial, the line race starting from Comiso saw 110 riders lined up.
Line Race Under - Juniores
75 riders started from Comiso on a splendid spring day: the initial race stages were fast with the group selecting itself along the slopes of Chiaramonte Gulfi. At the day's Mountain Grand Prix, Gianluigi Scibilia (Team bike Multicar Amarù) launched a solo breakaway, facing all six final laps in Monterosso while maintaining a thirty-second lead over the chasing group, a gap that continued to grow over the kilometers until reaching 1'30".
Two laps from the finish, on Monterosso's climb, Cristiano Ispoto (Team Madone) decisively attacked and managed to catch Scibilia. The two collaborated, managing their 1'20" advantage over the first chasing group in the finale. Triumphant arrival for Scibilia, five seconds ahead of Ispoto, with Riccardo Pagliari (Swatt Club) anticipating the group, which was led by Giuseppe Bruno (Casano Stabbia).
"I can only be enthusiastic about this victory, the race was tough because I attacked from the start," Scibilia explained. "After 18 km I went on a breakaway, managed to position myself well, and continued to extend my lead in the final kilometer, crossing the finish line with arms raised."
