Victim of a bad fall last Friday during the opening stage of the Giro d'Italia, Mikel Landa has been able to return home, where he can begin his recovery.
After the accident, Mikel was transferred to the Tirana hospital: the CT scan revealed a stable fracture of the eleventh thoracic vertebra. Mikel spent the night in intensive care: having had no further complications, he was transferred to a regular room and arrangements were made for his return home, where he can begin his recovery.
The rider is in good spirits and optimistic about the future: "I would like to thank everyone for the supportive messages and the affection I have received. I would also like to thank the doctors present at the scene of the accident and at the Tirana hospital, and all the members of Soudal Quick-Step who have taken care of me and helped me return home. It will be a long recovery, but the support I have been shown will give me strength on my journey".
And the thanks to the medical staff present at the scene of the accident and those working at the Tirana hospital is also expressed by the Soudal Quick Step team.
