The course for the ninth edition of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Women's Race is identical to the 2024 edition, matching last year's distance record with a 152.9 km route through the Ardennes.

"Nothing has changed, except that this time we rejoin the men's route at km 48, in Vielsalm," explains race director Gilles Maignan. Both routes will therefore follow the same final 104 km, a shared finale that includes nine of the ten climbs - only the Côte de Saint-Roch is an exception, with its 15.8 km. "The sequence of climbs will be tough, including the mythical Wanne-Stockeu-Haute-Levée trilogy. It will weigh heavily on the legs heading into the finale that will again feature La Redoute, Les Forges, and La Roche-aux-Faucons. Selection will happen naturally. The weather will also be crucial because today hot and sunny conditions are forecast. This might have a different impact because the weather wasn't good on Wednesday at La Flèche Wallonne Women. We really don't know how tactics will unfold. We saw FDJ-Suez pedaling all day trying to control La Flèche but not being rewarded in the end. Will they adopt a different strategy? We might wonder: 'Will they rely on other teams saying it's not their responsibility to control the race'?"
Once again, FDJ-Suez arrives at the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Women's Race with an impressive firepower: last year the French team won Liège thanks to Grace Brown - who retired at the end of 2024 - and now lines up with Demi Vollering, winner of this race with her former team SD Worx in 2021 and 2023. Victorious at the Women's Strade Bianche in March, Vollering is hungry for another Liège triumph after missing victory at the Women's Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday against her compatriot Puck Pieterse by just 2". Besides Vollering and Labous, the team includes strong climber Évita Muzic and Elise Chabbey, fifth in 2023 and fourth last year in Liège.
Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Deceuninck) is in great form, won stage 4 at the 2024 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift and dominated Wednesday's La Flèche. In her ten races so far this year, she hasn't finished outside the top ten, with third place at last Sunday's Amstel Gold Race preceding her victory at the Mur de Huy. This victory means she arrives at her first Liège-Bastogne-Liège as "Not the main favorite, but certainly one of the favorites", in her own words.
Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE Team ADQ) is set to become one of only three women to race in all nine editions of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Women's Race, alongside Kasia Niewiadoma and Ashleigh Moolman Pasio. Longo Borghini has been on the podium three times (third in 2021, second in 2023 and 2024) and comes to the race in excellent form. Already a winner this year at the UAE Tour Women, Dwars door Vlaanderen and most recently at Brabantse Pijl, Longo Borghini finished third at La Flèche and must be considered a strong contender for today's victory. "It's a race that suits my characteristics, so I can't wait to race".
Anna van der Breggen (Team SD Worx – Protime) returns to a race she won in 2017 and 2018 before her competitive career break. Back in the peloton this year, she missed the Women's Flèche Wallonne midweek due to illness and states she is able to race, perhaps to support teammates like world champion Lotte Kopecky and Amstel Gold Race Ladies winner Mischa Bredewold. "I feel good enough to race again, so let's say I'm happy about that. It hasn't been the best week for me, which was really a shame because I was feeling good before. That's certainly not what you want in a week like this".
Two weeks after her solo triumph at the Paris-Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift, in her debut at that race, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot finds herself at the start of another Monument, the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Women's Race, where she raced in the first two editions: 2017 (DNF) and 2018 (seventh). "It's been a while", smiles the 33-year-old Frenchwoman, reassured in recent days about her ankle condition, which had become infected following an accident at Strade Bianche in early March. "I still participated in the Tour of Flanders and Roubaix, while (Demi) Vollering and other women racing for the Tour's general classification did not. So I don't want to say Liège is a test. I just want to gain experience from this race and learn lessons for my future goals".
