DISCIPLINARY MEASURES. FIRST YELLOW CARDS AT THE WOMEN'S TOUR DOWN UNDER IN 2025

But during the Australian race, won by Swiss national champion Noemi Rüegg, the UCI commissaires' panel intervened, issuing the first yellow cards of the 2025 season.

The Norwegian team's technician, intercepted by our colleagues at cyclingnews, stated: "If the commissaires have decided that I drove dangerously, earning a yellow card, then it's right, I accept it. However, we must be careful because with two yellow cards in the same race, you get disqualified. This is why I believe it should be clearly explained for which infractions one can receive a yellow card".
And, referring to the new rule, he added: "We'll always have to think about whether we're doing things right, and which rules are being applied, it will be stressful. We've attended the UCI course and most of us have been in cycling for several years, but we'll try to be careful". We recall that the Yellow Card system, tested in the previous season and now in effect, provides that two yellows in the same competition result in a seven-day disqualification; three "warnings" in 30 days lead to two weeks of suspension, and with six cards in a year, the athlete will be disqualified for a month.
Fortunately, no yellow card for her, but in the disciplinary communication issued by the commissaires' panel at the end of the third stage of the Tour Down Under, Erica Magnaldi was also included: the Piedmontese rider from UAE Team ADQ was sanctioned with a 20" penalty in the general classification for slipstreaming a vehicle, which caused her to lose a position in the standings.
