EMOTIONS AT CALDERBA FOR THE CEREMONY DEDICATED TO FAUSTO COPPI
NEWS | 09/01/2025 | 08:05 di Francesco Coppola It was a beautiful and significant ceremony that took place on Sunday, January 5th at the Cyclist's Temple and the monument dedicated to Fausto Coppi, in Calderba di Ponte di Piave, in the province of Treviso, to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the champion's passing and all the riders. A deeply felt event that saw massive participation and was well organized by the Association of Former Cyclists of the Province of Treviso, led by the indomitable Germano Bisigato. Coppi's son, Faustino, the mayors of Castellania Coppi, the town in the province of Alessandria where the Coppi family originated, and Ponte di Piave, Giovanni Gugliada and Paola Roma, the event promoter, Edi Tempestin, Carla Pinarello, Renato Longo's relatives, his wife Marisa and daughter Federica, champion Beatrice Cal and the legendary Remo Mosole attended the ceremony; representing the new Veneto Cycling Federation Committee was Mario Guerretta, along with numerous relatives of champions and cycling enthusiasts. For the occasion, Paola Roma recalled the collaboration initiated between the Municipalities of Castellania Coppi and Ponte di Piave because, she said, "sport is about respecting traditions, like this temple that has become a memory and history for cycling fans". "Faustino and I could not miss such an important event," emphasized the mayor of Castellania, "which strengthens the friendship that binds us in the name of Fausto Coppi". The event concluded with an exchange of gifts and the unveiling of a photo of Efrem Dall'Anese, the cyclist who passed away in Vittorio Veneto on April 11, 2024, at 73 years old. Active in the Sixties and Seventies, he distinguished himself among amateurs by winning various races thanks to his climbing skills. He also won the Tour of Valle d'Aosta in 1972 with the Vittorio Veneto Cycling Union jersey. Dall'Anese, still among amateurs, won the Schio-Ossario del Pasubio in 1968, the Bassano-Monte Grappa in 1970 and 1972, and the Tour of Valle d'Aosta in the same year. He turned professional in 1974, wearing the Filcas colors and also participating in the Giro d'Italia. On the same day, the San Lazzaro Goppion Caffè Cycling Society, in collaboration with Pedale Opitergino and Fausto Coppi Polyglass of Calderba, successfully organized a bike ride in memory of this important event.
