PROFESSIONALS | 07/01/2025 | 08:15 With the opening races of the 2025 season just around the corner, Team Picnic PostNL gathered in Calpe with all three of its formations: Development, Men's and Women's. The 2024 season saw the men's team experience its most successful season in terms of victories since 2015, with 22 winsIn addition to an epic double in the opening stage of the Tour de France, the team is proud that 18 of the 22 victories came from athletes grown in their own academy, a fact that confirms Team Picnic PostNL is one of the best academies in the group. The women's team also made its mark at the Tour de France Femmes: after obtaining a superb victory on the opening day with Charlotte Kool, the team then won the yellow jersey in the next stage: an incredibly special start on Dutch soil. These results made the team enter history as the first team ever to win the opening stage of the Tour de France with both men and women in the same calendar year, a truly exceptional feat. In 2025, the team will continue its work focusing on two different pillars, namely the GC stage race team and the sprint team. For the Grand Tours, head coach Rudi Kemna stated: "At the Giro d'Italia, we really want to show ourselves as a team and do our part every day.In the battle for the general classification, we will try to race intelligently and tactically, also focusing on daily results when opportunities arise.We will have Romain Bardet who will take part in his last Grand Tour as a professional and Max Poole as cards for the challenging mountain days, while Casper van Uden should make his debut in a three-week race and will be supported by a good lead train to seek those daily sprint results". "As for the Tour de France, doing better than 2024 will be tough, but we will still focus on stage results.In the most challenging stages, we will have climbers like Oscar Onley and Frank van den Broek.We want to make progress with Fabio Jakobsen in the first part of the season and then aim for the Tour de France with confidence, putting Tobias Lund Andresen alongside him. We hope Max learns from the experience gained at the Giro, so with ideal preparation we'll see what we can do with him in the general classification at the Vuelta". Talking about the women's program, Kemna continued: "In 2024 we took a step forward, particularly thanks to two consecutive victories at the Tour de France Femmes with Charlotte Kool. With her, we'll try to repeat that, but we have a strong classics group with people like Pfeiffer Georgi and Franziska Koch, Megan Jastrab and Kool herself. We also have a lot of talent in the stage race team with Nienke Vinke, Francesca Barale and Eleonora Ciabocco who will have the opportunity to grow further. We also welcome the talented Marta Cavalli, whom we want to help recover: the idea for her is to go to the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France, but we must give her time to settle in and work calmly". .
