VELODROME IN CAPANNORI, MUNICIPALITY AND FCI COMMITTEE CONDUCT FIRST SITE INSPECTION

It involves 125 thousand square meters of agricultural land, so even if Fanini's plots are not sufficient, expropriation will be possible. In that area, there is even a road circling the fields: access is from Viale Europa, with another entrance from Via Bocchi. There are also necessary parking spaces. Now, efforts must be made to secure PNRR resources (with an investment ranging between 25 and 35 million euros) and this will be done by the Municipality that has shown interest in this opportunity. Moreover, besides the existing road, which will obviously need to be paved, there are no nearby residential buildings or productive activity premises. Translated: fewer difficulties in managing the operation. And a large part of the land is made available by Ivano Fanini himself, as it is his property. The area is certainly suitable, close to infrastructure but not too integrated into urban centers. The Municipality of Piazza Moro is completing the sports complex, but this facility could truly represent a turning point for Lucchesia, creating economic impact (shops and various activities can be inside the velodrome). The only similar structure currently in Italy is in Montichiari, Brescia. The one in Capannori would be a reference point for Central and Southern Italy. With a social function: allowing bicycle sports to be practiced safely, indoors within the facility, instead of training young cyclists in the middle of traffic, with considerable danger.
