A two-rider sprint decided the European Women's Elite Cyclocross Championship, with Marie Schreiber claiming victory. The Luxembourg rider was the standout performer of the day, launching the decisive attack early in the race and putting considerable pressure on the formidable Dutch national team.
Progressively joining her wheel were first Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, who slipped in the closing stages but still managed to secure third place, and subsequently world champion Lucinda Brand. The three riders broke clear of the field, establishing a commanding gap over their pursuers.
In the finale, Schreiber and Brand battled for the title in a thrilling head-to-head duel that was decided only at the finish line, where the Luxembourg rider found the decisive acceleration to overtake the Dutch champion and claim the continental jersey.
For Italy, Lucia Bramati stood out with a solid ninth-place finish, the best result among the Italian riders. Misfortune hampered the ambitions of Sara Casasola, who crossed the line in fourteenth place, while Carlotta Borello finished fifteenth and Rebecca Gariboldi eighteenth.
