A victory and a third place in four days, Cristina Tonetti is going through a good period and when we reach her by phone, she confirms it with a bright voice: "I'm happy about this period, the victory on Friday had weight and an important meaning, but with today's third place, I believe I've shown that what I achieved on Ferragosto is not a matter of chance" says the Lombard athlete from the Laboral Kutxa - Fundación Euskadi team to tuttobiciweb. Then she continues: "These are results that somewhat repay all the sacrifices I've made to leave behind the difficulties of the last year, which was not easy at all".

Cristina has a strong character, and we have proof when she explains: "I didn't lose heart. I tried to focus on my goals, concentrating only on what I could control."

The 23-year-old, who started the season by standing out with a long breakaway at the UAE Tour Women and currently has only 14 race days under her belt, tells us: "Having had few opportunities to race, I realized how important it is to be focused and 'on the ball' on race day. Sometimes too much importance is given to training, which is true is important, but it shouldn't be forgotten that it's in the race where you need to go fast and give your all to get results. This change in mindset helps me achieve the goals I set for myself and work towards, today's victory and placement are proof of that".

Cristina doesn't hide her happiness and, indeed, shares it with her loved ones: "I'm grateful to the people who have been and are close to me, who support me and believe in me. The results and happiness of these days, as I said, repay all the work that has been done".

Tonetti tells everything with a hint of emotion and says: "We didn't give up on the difficulties, and that's important". This last sentence is yet another proof that Cristina has character, we've seen it in recent races and we'll see it in the future. We're certain of that.
