From Tuesday to Saturday, the Polti VisitMalta Team will be competing in the Tour of Denmark, five high-tension days with several final circuits and a central flat time trial that will start to make a difference in the overall standings. The Polti VisitMalta formation will be led by captain Mirco Maestri, accompanied by another experienced rider Alessandro Tonelli. Fighters Fran Muñoz and Gabriele Raccagni will also feel comfortable on this type of course. The team will be completed by Maltese champion Aidan Buttigieg, sprinter Manuel Peñalver, and trainee Giovanni Bortoluzzi.
From San Daniele, Friuli, Bortoluzzi has completed his entire Under 23 path in various Italian Continental teams. This year, in his first Elite season with the General Store jersey, he won the Caduti di Reda Cup and the Città di Brescia Trophy, as well as securing several podium finishes, including the last stage of the Giro d'Abruzzo among professional riders. Performances that demonstrate acquired maturity and have convinced Ivan Basso's team and the Contador brothers to give him this opportunity. Maestri: "It's a quality and prestigious race, which we approach after an excellent preparation period, so we aim to reap the fruits of our intense work. Personally, I believe I can contribute to my teammates' cause and also aspire to some nice satisfactions."
Sports Director Giovanni Ellena: "This is our first time at the Tour of Denmark, Maestri and Alessandro Tonelli will be our reference points. There are no major mountains, but there will still be plenty of challenging terrain to showcase our riders' quality. On faster days, Peñalver will certainly have his say in the sprint. Finally, I want to emphasize the debut of trainee Bortoluzzi, in whom we place great trust."
