The third edition of the Tecam Trophy, a "Track-Type" competition promoted last Friday by the Aurora Brian Val Olgiate Molgora Sports Club, was a celebration of women's cycling: athletes from the Beginners, Cadets, Junior, and Elite categories were the protagonists of the evening's challenges.
In the top category, the Isolmant - Premac – Vittoria athletes dominated: 23-year-old Marta Zanga won the Scratch event ahead of her teammates Martina Silvestri and Arianna Giordani; in the Elimination race, Silvestri prevailed with Sonia Rossetti completing the podium. The results of the two events allowed Martina Silvestri, a 2003 Verona native, to win the Omnium classification.
Among the Juniors, the evening featured a duel between Melania Minichino and Romina di Sciuva, with the 17-year-old Biesse – Carrera rider winning both Scratch and Elimination events ahead of the Como-based Canturino athlete. Giulia Zambelli, also from the Brescia team, finished third in both races.
A foreign success in the Cadets category: Angelina Novolodskaia, a Russian rider born in 2009 registered with the Spanish Pc Baix Ebre Tortosa team, won the final Omnium classification after winning the Elimination event ahead of Sara Peruta from the Scuola Ciclismo Verso L'Iride. The Scratch race had finished with reversed positions, with Martina De Vecchi from S.C. Cesano Maderno in third place.
Martina Pianta demonstrated her value by winning the Scratch, Elimination, and final Omnium classification in the Beginners category. The sprinter from S.C. Cesano Maderno won the first event by beating Francesca Consoli from Scuola Ciclismo Verso L'Iride and Sofia Azzola from Ciclistica Ossanenesga; in the second event, Pianta defeated Giulia Ceroni with Sofia Azzola again finishing third.
Among those attending the races were Angelo and Alessandra Campagna, executives from Tecam company, Barbara Cazzaniga, technical manager of the Lombard women's sector; Debora Gatti, regional councilor of Federciclismo Lombardy; Alessandro Bonacina, president of the Lecco Federciclismo committee, and, representing the Municipal Administration of Olgiate Molgora, Assessors Paola Colombo and Aldo Colombo.
The evening began with a touching moment of remembrance that athletes, coaches, and organizers wanted to dedicate to the memory of Samuele Privitera, the 20-year-old cyclist who passed away last Wednesday after an accident during the Giro della Valle d'Aosta. Particularly significant was the choice of S.C. Cesano Maderno to compete with a black armband to honor the young Ligurian athlete from Hagens Berman Jayco
