The city of Cesano Maderno is colored pink, the Giro d'Italia is approaching. But when arriving in this Brianza town, attention is captured by the informative cyclist-saving signs inaugurated a couple of weeks ago in the presence of Mayor Giampiero Bocca, Councilors Manuel Tarasso and Rosanna Arnaboldi, representatives of the Cesano Maderno Cycling Society and Molinello, and Antonio Cortese, testimonial of Io Rispetto il Ciclista - an association founded by Maurizio Fondriest, Paola Gianotti, and Marco Cavorso, and supported by the Italian Professional Cyclists Association.
The signs, with the "Attention" indication clearly visible and the graphic information inviting motor vehicle drivers to maintain a 1.5-meter distance from cyclists, confirm that Cesano Maderno cares about cyclist safety.
"We have placed five signs at the entrance of our territory. There are many cyclists traveling on our roads, and this seemed to me one of the necessary interventions that the Municipal Administration has implemented to emphasize the importance of respecting those who pedal," said Sports Councilor Rosanna Arnaboldi during the "Trofeo Aspettando il Giro" event, which saw Esordienti and Allieve category cyclists as protagonists.
On the topic, Giuseppe Fontana, president of the Cesano Maderno Cycling Society, also commented to tuttobiciweb: "The installation of signs that raise awareness about respecting cyclists, in addition to the bike paths already present in our territory, demonstrates that our city is growing with the times. It's a strong signal to the citizens and an important gesture towards those who use bicycles for sports, like our athletes."
