World road champion Philippe Gilbert headlines the BMC Racing Team roster for the GP de Wallonie, a race that takes place his home region on Sept. 18. Gilbert said with a strong team around him, he hopes to add to success he has already experienced in the race that finishes with the 2.8-kilometer ascent of the Citadelle de Namur. "I like this race, it is one I know well and I always have many supporters and family there," he said. "I have won it twice (2006, 2011) and finished second another time (2004) when I was caught in the final 50 meters. So I think if we can control the race until the climb, then it's a good finish for me. It's a climb you can take in the big chainring. That's what I like most." Among those teaming with Gilbert in the 203.1-kilometer race are USA Pro Challenge runner-up Mathias Frank, Swiss national road champion Michael Schär and Greg Van Avermaet, winner of the Tour de Wallonie in July. Gilbert, who is currently competing in the Vuelta a España, said he is nearly back to top form after a crash and deep cut to his knee knocked him out of the Eneco Tour of Benelux about three weeks ago. "I am feeling good so we will see what I can do the rest of the Vuelta," he said. "I think there are one or two stages with finishes which suit me."
