The team that, still until the end of the year, is called Polti VisitMalta, awaiting clarification on the new structure and new look following the entry into the company of Ukyo Katayama alongside Ivan Basso and the Contador brothers, has announced the three new signings that make up a roster of 21 riders for the upcoming season: two Italians and one Japanese.
All three come directly from the Continental team of the former Japanese Formula 1 driver and thus make the jump to the Professional category.
The 2002-born from Trento Federico Iacomoni, protagonist of many top finishes including bronze at the Mediterranean Games and a stage win at the Tour of Armenia, co-protagonist of numerous victories by Tommaso Dati. For Iacomoni a two-year contract: "I decided to embrace this project because it's a close-knit family, just as I like it! I'm reuniting with the Bessega twins with whom I raced in 2025 at Biesse Carrera, I find many people I already knew and with whom I share philosophy and vision, from training to the way of racing always hungry... I believe that coming here is the right decision, for me and for the team".
The 1999-born Ligurian Nicolò Garibbo, coming off a long amateur career also decorated with the tuttoBICI Elite Oscar in 2023, also author this year of a strong showing among the professionals on the opening day of the Giro di Sardegna. After closing 2026 with a 5th place finish at the Japan Cup, Garibbo is finally ready to express in the Professional category his climbing agility and his propensity for attacking: "I'm really happy to take this important step in an equally important team, which I thank for believing in a guy who will turn 28 next year. I feel I still have a lot to give and recent history shows that this is the right structure to improve myself, together we can achieve some great satisfactions!"
While Garibbo signed for one season, there is a contemporary of Iacomoni who, like him, has signed for 2027 and 2028: Yoshiki Terada, a sprinter who also had a stint with Bahrain Development, after becoming national Under 23 champion two years ago. Terada will be the first Japanese and the first Asian in the team's history: "I'm very happy, opportunities like this are rare for riders from Japan, so I'm honored and can't wait to face this new challenge! Racing in Europe during this season allowed me to get a close look at the high level of competition and to fight for good results in bunch sprints, which are my specialty. I've been working to become a professional since I finished high school and I feel I've improved year after year. Thanks to the collaboration between Mr. Katayama and HAYF Sports, I now have this opportunity and I'm determined to make the most of it to give my best contribution".
Here's the comment from sports director Giovanni Ellena: "Federico is a very valuable profile that we've been noticing for some time, he was able to get back in the saddle after a terrible training accident three years ago and we're pleased to turn him professional. Nicolò has behind him a path that has made him known in the Italian and international cycling community, his qualities are indisputable and with the calendar we can offer him he'll be able to do very well. With Yoshiki we'll focus especially on bunch sprints in Asian races, where I believe he can play an important role for us also in terms of the increasingly international character of our squad. All three are guys who combine previous experience and room for growth, we're pleased to help them and take a nice step forward".
