The EF Education-Easypost continues to place its trust in the young riders from its Devo development team. After Gavin Sherry, Gavin Hlady and our Roberto Capello, the American squad has decided to award another WorldTour 2027 roster spot to a rider admired this year wearing his development team's jersey, namely Tomos Pattinson.
The twenty-year-old from Dudley, the young English rider (who joined the American team after two years spent in the Devo of Visma Lease a Bike) finished this year in sixth place in the Coppa Città di San Daniele and in a pro race like the Visit South Aegean GP, displaying qualities that earned him the call to the top level.
"Obviously for me this is a dream come true. It's a goal I hoped to achieve from the beginning of my Under 23 career: I'm thrilled" Pattinson said after announcing his move to the professional ranks.
"I can't wait to start this new adventure next season. Since I was a kid I've followed cycling and becoming a professional rider, being able to call yourself a professional, is really something special. I also like the bikes we race on, the Cannondale: I've already used them when I raced as a junior and for this reason too, when it came to entering the WorldTour, this was definitely the team I wanted to join", added the 2005-born British rider, coming off a season where he was already able to get up close and personal with the world's top cyclists.
"I had a good season. I raced often with the WorldTour team's riders and from these experiences I was able to gain great benefit, learning a lot and maturing. In particular, in the stage races I competed in with them I had the opportunity to learn how to race with the radio and benefit from the many tips received from more experienced riders and it was fantastic to be part of that environment", Pattinson recounted, competing this year in races such as Tour de la Provence, Settimana Internazionale Coppi and Bartali and Tour of Austria.
"I'm satisfied with the results I achieved in the Ardennes and Greece at the beginning of the year. I had excellent legs in Austria too, which obviously made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Overall I'm happy with how I managed to help the team when I was called upon", said Tomos, who for 2027 has a clear mission in mind.
"My goal is to improve in general and in as many areas as possible. I can't wait to take the right steps in my development path during the winter, and then start the season with the WorldTour team", concluded Pattinson, whose addition to the EF's WorldTour roster brings the number of riders in the American team's official lineup for next year to 25.
