A new international reality could soon emerge on the cycling landscape, with an important Italian footprint. The birth of an Italian-Greek project was anticipated by Alex Carera, manager of the A&J All Sports management agency, which includes some of the most important riders in the group, above all Tadej Pogacar.
Speaking during the RadioCorsa broadcast on RaiSport, Carera discussed the project which will be led by Marco Bellini and Kevin Colleoni, two figures who, despite following different paths, have close knowledge of the professional cycling world.
Bellini brings with him extensive managerial experience gained alongside Gianni Savio and, more recently, at the helm of the Mexican-based Petrolike team. For Colleoni, on the other hand, this would represent a return to the racing world with a completely new role, after announcing on February 11th, at just 26 years old, his retirement from competitive cycling at the end of five seasons in the WorldTour, spent wearing the colors of BikeExchange-Jayco and Intermarché-Wanty.
The project, which should have a base in Greece but a strong Italian component in its management, would represent a new opportunity at a particularly delicate moment for the national cycling movement, grappling with economic difficulties and the progressive reduction of opportunities available to riders.
Several aspects still need to be clarified, starting with the team's name, the composition of the roster, and the category in which it will be registered. The hypothesis is a start at the Continental level, with the objective of building a structure destined to grow over time.
Carera's words nonetheless suggest that the ambitions are significant. There is nothing left to do but await further developments and, above all, the official announcement of a project that could bring a breath of fresh air to international cycling.
