Haoyu Su's adventure with XDS Astana will continue for another two years. Arriving at the beginning of 2025 with the Kazakh team, the Chinese road champion (winner this year of silver in the road race at the Asian Championships as well as the national title) has indeed extended his contract with Alexandr Vinokurov's squad until 2028, who did not miss the progress made over the last few months by the twenty-six-year-old Asian rider.
"In just two years with our team, Haoyu Su has become the strongest rider in his country and one of the best riders throughout Asia. His work ethic and motivation deserve great respect," said the XDS Astana president.
"Of course, racing in Europe is not easy for him, but nevertheless we see progress in this area as well. All he needs is experience and time, and he will be able to reach a level that will allow him to achieve excellent results in European races too. We have another two years of work ahead with him: we'll see what we can accomplish together."
Fifth in the road race at the last Asian Games won by Alexey Lutsenko, Su, thanks to the contract extension offered by Astana, will be able to continue working with peace of mind on his performance and seek to carve out an increasingly important role in the team, acting both in support of the captains and trying, in some cases, to achieve results in his own right.
"These two years spent with XDS Astana have allowed me to progress enormously: I have gained invaluable experience, achieved numerous results and, above all, I have fulfilled my dream of becoming a professional WorldTour rider. We have new seasons ahead together, new objectives and lots of work to do: I'm ready," said the Chinese rider born in 2000 after signing the contract extension, whose confirmation brings his team closer to closing the roster for 2027 given the only three slots still to be filled.
