Paul Seixas is enjoying his first days of vacation and yesterday granted an interview to RMC in which he sowed doubts, clues, and suspicions... starting with his choices for the upcoming racing season.
"For now I don't know which Grand Tour I'll take part in next year. The Tour, after my debut this year, is on my mind, but aiming to win the Giro is an option I can consider. We'll evaluate with our coaches which is the best option: tackling one Grand Tour rather than another, with the World Championships in mind".
And further: "Regardless of which Grand Tour I'll compete in, I'll have great ambitions. Of course, the 2027 Tour tempts me, especially because it passes through Haute-Savoie, near my grandparents' home. Honestly, I really feel like racing it".
It's certainly no exaggeration to say that the Grande Boucle remains at the center of the young Lombardia winner's thoughts, especially since an entire nation is waiting to be brought back to the top step of that podium, which has been missing since 1985, the year of Bernard Hinault's last triumph. But a window for the Giro d'Italia remains open, pending the detailed route reveal on November 3rd. In the meantime, Seixas will fly to Asia to participate in the Tour Criteriums in Japan and Singapore and to enjoy a few days of vacation in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Meanwhile, regarding Savoy, the great certainty for Seixas is the Sallanches World Championships: "They will be held near my grandparents' home. It's an appointment I've been waiting for for years. I hope to be ready. I'll definitely be there".
Doubts and uncertainties also surround his future team, given that his contract with Decathlon CMA CGM expires at the end of 2027: "For now I haven't decided anything. Throughout my brief career, I've spent time chasing contracts. Every time I got a good result, I'd be told: 'we need to renew'. So, when I signed this contract two years ago, I promised myself not to rush, because it tires me. Therefore, now, I'm taking all the time I need. I believe there will come a moment when I'll have a feeling, an instinct that will tell me: this is the right decision".
