Netcompany INEOS continues its strengthening campaign and finalizes the signing of Michael Valgren with a two-year contract. The thirty-four-year-old Danish rider brings with him over a decade of WorldTour experience and an impressive palmares, which includes victories at the Amstel Gold Race and the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
The former national champion and bronze medalist at the World Championships returned to winning ways in 2026, claiming stage victories at both Tirreno-Adriatico and the Giro d'Italia.
Valgren's experience and versatility will represent an added value for the group dedicated to the Classics, while his leadership and deep knowledge of racing dynamics will constitute an important resource for the entire team.
«Finally having the opportunity to join Netcompany INEOS is a dream come true. It's a team I've always wanted to be part of; in some ways, it's as if the circle is closing. I can't wait to become part of such a special reality, where nothing is left to chance in the pursuit of maximum performance. I believe that the environment and resources available can help me find that extra something to elevate my level and continue to fight for victory. Equally important for me is being able to put my experience at the service of the group, supporting collective work in racing and guiding the young talents growing within the team. This is an aspect that motivates me enormously. I am also excited to work alongside Geraint Thomas, a rider I have always admired throughout my career. His dedication and work ethic have always been a source of inspiration for me; I hope to contribute to carrying forward the legacy he has built within the team».
Called upon to comment, Geraint Thomas, Director of Racing, said: «I have known Michael personally for a long time and have always held great respect for him, both as a rider and as a person. He is a figure of great substance who, I am certain, will integrate perfectly into our team. He brings with him an enormous wealth of experience and has proven he is still able to race at an incredibly high level, especially after everything he had to face following his accident. Being able to return to winning major races after such an experience says a lot about his character and determination».
