It's been the talk of the peloton for weeks, and now Richard Carapaz's transfer becomes official: the Ecuadorian rider, already an Olympic champion and Giro d'Italia winner, will leave EF Education-EasyPost to wear the NSN jersey for the next three years.
"Carapaz's signing is a significant moment for our team and a fundamental milestone in the development of our sporting project," explains General Manager Kjell Carlström. "Richard is an established champion. His results speak for themselves, but what truly makes him special is his mentality. He's known for his grit and determination, qualities we saw emerge clearly in 2026, with two stage victories at the Tour de France and the conquest of the polka dot jersey, followed, a week later, by an extraordinary podium finish in San Sebastián".
He continues: "Richard is one of those riders whose passion for cycling is evident; we're convinced that his best performances are still to come. His experience and leadership will be invaluable, not only in achieving our sporting objectives, but also in developing the young talents within the team. Our younger riders will be able to look to Richard as a point of reference, and I have no doubt he'll integrate perfectly into our team's culture. We're thrilled to begin this new chapter with Richard at NSN".
For his part, Carapaz comments: "For me, as a rider, it's an extraordinary opportunity to be part of this project and, above all, to be one of the team's leaders," states Carapaz. "I'm simply thrilled. I can't wait to get started; in fact, this situation reminds me very much of when I signed my first professional contract, when I was incredibly excited about entering the WorldTour. I still have the same motivation as that day, and it's a truly incredible feeling".
"I find the NSN project extremely interesting and, after our initial conversations, I became convinced this was the right place for me. Throughout my career I've achieved great results, many of them precisely in the Grand Tours, which aligns perfectly with what NSN was looking for. The team has great ambitions for growth and, from our first discussions with the technical staff, it became clear that we share the desire to continue improving and reaching great milestones together. I believe the team has enormous potential for development and I'm excited to be part of it over the next three years".
Carapaz is the latest addition to the revamped NSN Cycling Team's 2027 roster; he joins climbers Santiago Buitrago and Lennert van Eetvelt, current teammate Kasper Asgreen, as well as Artem Shmidt and Cedric Beullens.
