MARKET | 14/10/2026 | 18:29

A day of announcements at Netcompany INEOS: following the signing of Clement Champoussin, the British team confirms the signing of emerging British talent Joe Blackmore and his experienced fellow countryman James Shaw.

Blackmore, 23 years old, has quickly established himself as one of Britain's most promising young talents, experiencing a breakthrough 2024 season that saw him triumph at both the Tour de l'Avenir and the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Under 23. A versatile rider and skilled climber, Blackmore has proven his worth in both demanding one-day races and stage races. Despite a 2026 season hampered by injuries, he is determined to build on the successes already achieved and take the next step in his career with Netcompany INEOS.

Shaw brings with him a wealth of great experience, having built a professional career spanning nearly ten years. A strong climber capable of distinguishing himself in both demanding stage races and one-day events, the thirty-year-old Briton has demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination throughout his career.

Joe Blackmore, who comes from NSN Cycling Team, stated: "I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to spend the next three years of my career with Netcompany INEOS. 2026 has been a difficult year due to injuries, but this has made me even more motivated to express my full potential. Joining a team that operates at the highest levels provides me with the ideal environment to continue growing. I can't wait to get started and contribute to the team's success".

James Shaw, who arrives from EF Education Easypost, explains: "As a kid, this was the team that inspired me. I grew up watching riders like Geraint with admiration; having now the opportunity to wear this jersey and be part of a team I have always admired is a dream come true".

Geraint Thomas, Sport Director, commented: "Joe is a rider we have followed closely and in whom we see great potential. He has already proven what he is capable of in different types of races, but we especially believe he still has considerable room for growth". "We will focus on providing him with the environment, support and time necessary to continue his growth path. We look forward to welcoming him to the team and discovering what we can achieve together. James is a true fighter. He has demonstrated remarkable mental strength throughout his career and has worked hard to establish himself at the highest levels. He possesses a varied skill set and brings valuable experience to the team. He is also a figure who will help strengthen the British identity of our group, both on and off the bike."
