The third place achieved on Tuesday by Raffaele Veneri in the Coppa Comune di Livraga is the best possible preparation for the Giro del Veneto, which from today to Saturday, September 12th will put the Gallina Lucchini Ecotek Colosio team to the test.
Three days, three different scenarios:
Time trial prologue in Piazzola sul Brenta — 1 km flat, explosive, to be interpreted with absolute precision.
Recoaro–Quinto Vicentino — 146 km, the longest and most treacherous stage, terrain for attackers and endurance riders.
Sossano–Bosco Chiesanuova — 141 km, challenging finish towards the plateau, likely to produce a natural selection.
The riders selected by Turchetti and Benatti are: Crescioli, Buti, Franzosi, Militello, Epis, Mercatali and Veneri.
After the Giro del Veneto concludes, the team will line up at two historic appointments on the amateur calendar, both with different technical characteristics. The 91st edition of the Targa Libero Ferrario, the classic Parabiago (MI) race, 158 km, will start at 12:00 and as tradition dictates will offer a finish for fast men, but after a demanding day nonetheless. In the race: Mercatali, Ganini, Faustinelli, Cornali, Militello and Bonometti.
The team will then head to Tuscany, to Loro Ciuffenna (Arezzo), for the 85th Coppa Ciuffenna – 98th Coppa Antica, a 163 km race with a 13:00 start, traditionally more aggressive and selective, with sections that reward endurance and the ability to read the course. Starting: Epis, Crescioli, Bonometti, Franzosi, Militello and Buti
