Tom Pidcock arrived at Larciano determined to make his mark and he did just that, securing his fifteenth career victory on the road. Immediately after the finish line, the British rider commented: "After the MTB world championship, I came here to find the right pedal stroke on the road as well. It was a really hot and tiring day but I'm happy with how it went"
Referring to the decisive attack, Pidcock stated: "After the MTB race, I came here to find the right pedal stroke in road racing too. I knew that the final climb would be decisive for the victory and I tried to make the most of it".
And finally, the Pinarello Q36.5 talent confirmed his desire to chase that road world title that still eludes him. "Obviously, the Montréal world championship is one of my objectives, I'm not going to Canada for a holiday"
