The XDS Astana team has signed experienced French cyclist Anthony Turgis to a two-year contract valid for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Anthony Turgis, 32 years old, is a specialist in Classics and one-day races. In 2022, he finished second at the Monument Classic Milano-Sanremo, while in 2021 he came second at Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne. In 2024, he claimed a stage victory at the Tour de France.
This season, Turgis has achieved third place at the Grand Prix de Denain, seventh at the Classica di Bruxelles, eighth at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Heistse Pijl, and ninth at Muur Classic Geraardsbergen.
"Team XDS Astana is a serious project with a great history and a roster of international riders. For me, this is a new challenge in my career and I believe it will give me new motivation and new objectives. I'm happy to join the Astana project. I know the team has worked hard on the Classics, and that's important to me. I believe I can still improve and that together with Team XDS Astana we can achieve significant results both in the spring Classics and in other races," said Anthony Turgis.
"In recent years, we have worked extensively on the Classics. We have made concrete progress, with good results both last year and this season. Anthony is a rider experienced in the Classics, so he can significantly strengthen our team ahead of the spring Classics. Furthermore, Turgis has extensive experience in the Grand Tours, particularly at the Tour de France, and for us he can be a valuable contribution to the most important race of the season," stated Alexandr Vinokurov, General Manager of Team XDS Astana.
