A special meeting, one of those that stays in your heart. Elena Miglioranza, the 16-year-old cyclist from Sorgente di Pradipozzo involved on July 19th in a serious accident during the Trofeo Pavan Ernesto & Figli with finish in Arcade (Tv), returned to the Suem in Treviso together with her parents to greet Dr. Silvia Orazio. Living less than 100 meters from the accident site, the doctor, despite being off duty, rushed into the street with her husband Emanuele De Marchi, a nurse who works in the healthcare professions service of the Asolo district.

The story took on a completely different face: Elena had suffered severe lung compression and mild head trauma in the accident. But no fractures and no internal injuries to the abdomen and legs. She had been admitted to the Neurosurgery Intensive Care unit.

Elena arrived smiling, she is well, and has made a complete recovery. After the latest tests with very positive results, she is ready to get back in the saddle and, if she wishes, to compete in upcoming races.

For Dr. Silvia Orazio, an anesthetist and for five years head of the 118 emergency operations center in Treviso, and for all the operators who assisted her, seeing her like this was an immense joy. "Seeing her today, smiling and in perfect form, is a wonderful satisfaction and reminds us of the value of the work we do every day". The day after the accident, Dr. Orazio had said: "There is nothing exceptional about this. This is the work that my colleagues and I do every day".

The accident occurred in Bavaria di Nervesa (Tv) during a race valid for the Veneto championship in the Allieve category. The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. The race, which covered a total distance of 53 kilometers, had reached its crucial phases.

The accident happened about eight kilometers from the finish line, on a slightly downhill stretch. Elena, in an attempt to maintain her position within the group, may have touched the curb, inevitably losing control of her bicycle. Elena's race ended against a linden tree located right in front of the primary school in the Bavaria district, an impact that left her no way to avoid the serious consequences. The impact against the tree was extremely violent.

Immediately, the alarm was raised by the race staff and spectators present along the roadside. Elena's father, Andrea Miglioranza, an engineer and president of the Sorgente Pradipozzo cycling club, had expressed the desire to meet Dr. Orazio to thank her: "If my daughter is alive, it is thanks to Dr. Silvia Orazio". Which is exactly what happened.

Former Veneto president Luca Zaia also mobilized with an important social media campaign. The photo of the meeting was also commented on by Luca Zaia: "A story that, months later, reminds us how important professionalism, promptness, and humanity are for those who serve others every day".
