Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe is preparing for the Vuelta a España at an altitude location that we're increasingly recognizing as an Italian excellence in this field: the upper Valtellina, specifically Livigno. That's where Primoz Roglic and his teammates are preparing for the Spanish grand tour, and that's where enthusiastic words come from coach David De Klerk: "We are at 2200 meters altitude, ideal for low atmospheric pressure and therefore reduced oxygen availability that forces the body to adapt. Red blood cell production increases, so when you return to sea level you're able to perform at a higher level. What could be better than doing all this in such a beautiful area? We're well above two thousand meters and have access to some spectacular climbs, ideal in preparation for a grand tour!"
Two riders engaged in this training camp echo his sentiments: Luke Tuckwell, who lives in the Pyrenees and says "this is my first time in Livigno, it's fantastic to come here to the Alps and ride on these mountain passes," and Finn Fisher-Black, who believes "this territory is perfect for preparing for the Vuelta in the best way possible, both in terms of characteristics and beauty."
