Tadej Pogačar has made his decision: after enjoying another celebration in his hometown of Komenda, the world champion has officially confirmed his decision to compete in the Vuelta España, which will start on August 22 from the Principality of Monaco.

With the confirmation of his participation in the Vuelta a España, which will take place from August 22 to September 13, Tadej Pogačar is preparing to conquer the only Grand Tour missing from his palmares. The Slovenian superstar, fresh from winning his fifth Tour de France, now has the opportunity to join an exclusive group of cyclists who have won the Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España.

The Vuelta represents an important milestone in Pogačar's career. Should he triumph in Granada on September 13, the Slovenian would become the ninth rider in history to achieve the triple crown, a feat that has only been accomplished by cycling legends such as Eddy Merckx and Bernard Hinault. The last three winners of the triple crown were Nibali, Froome, and Vingegaard. His participation is particularly anticipated, as it adds to his list of recent victories, including the Giro and Tour from last year, which saw him complete an extraordinary double.

Pogačar has already demonstrated his abilities at the Vuelta in 2019, when he finished third in the general classification in his first and only participation, also winning three stages and claiming the best young rider jersey. This year, the UAE Team Emirates, through its X account, has officially announced his participation, emphasizing the importance of this race not only for the title, but also as preparation for the World Championships to be held on September 27 in Montreal.

Alongside Pogačar, UAE Team Emirates will field João Almeida, who was initially planned as the team leader but will now play a crucial support role. Joining them are Domen Novak, Ivo Oliveira, Pablo Torres, Kevin Vermaerke, and Jay Vine to form a truly formidable team.
