2 victories in 2 days, a full haul for the MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort team which over the weekend straddling Hungary and Slovakia claimed 2 doubles; indeed today it was the turn of Alessandro Verre who beat Márton Dina by 32" (3:25:53), while yesterday Luca Cretti had broken the ice ahead of Verre himself on the Nová Baňa › Nová Baňa route of 138.8 km, decidedly challenging. Verre won in 3:25:21.
The Lucanian rider confirms himself as a substantial athlete, arriving solo with arms raised, strong with a stable and good condition that has been accompanying him for some time. Already at the Giro del Medio Brenta and in previous races, signs of liveliness had arrived. For Verre it is the first victory of the season, the 12th for MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort.
The team balance is made even more important by the placements of Matteo Ambrosini, 7th (3:25:55), Luca Cretti, 8th (3:26:03) and Filip Gruszczyński's 13th (3:27:06).
STATEMENTS: Immediately the words of Verre after the finish line: "We did our duty, but in fact we were good; here we were the strongest in a race that proved harder than yesterday's. I dedicate this victory to a lifelong friend of mine, Antonio, who got married to Chiara 2 days ago and whose wedding I couldn't attend because of racing commitments. However, I had made this promise".
Verre, also accustomed to major stage races, found himself more at ease on the second day of the event called Visegrad 4 Bicycle Race. "We played with different leaders and for me it's a good period and I managed to make the difference. For a couple of months I've been feeling good, although now it's perhaps time to take a step back. I'll probably take a week of active rest, without the bike. I'll stay at home, in Lucania (he's from Marsicovetere), where it's nice and the climate at this moment is better and drier compared to Northern Italy".
THE RACE: Verre explains the race. "We managed to put Mark Valent ahead, then we took things into our own hands. In the final we moved with Ambrosini and Filip. Already at the first passage on the climb we were all six ahead, demonstrating that we were focused and present".
MÁRTON DINA: "I'm really happy with the result in 2 fantastic days. Yesterday I started too early wasting an opportunity, but today I think I managed the race with more tactical intelligence. I really wanted the victory or the podium and we succeeded. As a team we played our cards best and Verre was better arriving alone, but everyone worked great and thanks to everyone".
