From July 7 to 12, the Cottbus Velodrome (Germany) will once again be the reference point for European youth track cycling, hosting the 2026 UEC European Track Championships for Juniors and Under 23. A total of 485 athletes representing 32 nations are registered to compete for 44 European titles in an event that brings together the continent's best young talents every year and represents a fundamental step in the development path of tomorrow's champions. This year too, a week of high-level racing is expected, with Europe's finest young talents ready to showcase their abilities.
For Cottbus, this is a welcome return after successfully hosting the 2024 edition. The German velodrome has been an international reference point for years in the preparation of elite athletes, but it also stands out for its constant commitment to promoting youth activity and nurturing the next generation of track cyclists.
Enrico Della Casa, President of the European Cycling Union: "Following the success of the 2024 edition, we are delighted to return to Cottbus for one of the most important events on our calendar. This velodrome represents a true center of excellence for track cycling, capable of combining high-level preparation with constant attention to recruiting and developing young talent. We are looking forward to six days of intense and spectacular competition, during which we will have the opportunity to see in action the athletes who will be protagonists of European and world cycling in the years to come. These Championships represent much more than a continental event: they are a window into the future of our sport.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Organizing Committee, led by Axel Viertler with the invaluable support of the tireless Detlef Uibel, to the sponsors, to German Cycling and its President Bernd Dankowski, who have once again demonstrated great confidence and strong commitment to our sport. Special thanks also go to the many volunteers who, with professionalism, enthusiasm and spirit of service, have worked and will continue to work behind the scenes to make this event possible. Their contribution is fundamental and represents one of the pillars of success for every European Championship."
The 2025 edition in Anadia saw Great Britain top the medal table with 10 golds, 8 silvers and 8 bronzes, ahead of Italy (10 golds, 6 silvers and 6 bronzes) and Germany (6 golds, 7 silvers and 5 bronzes).
