Lorena Wiebes' disqualification has caused quite a stir and is destined to continue making headlines, especially since the SD Worx Protime leadership has announced its intention to pursue legal action.

Team manager Erwin Janssen was clear in his interview with Dutch broadcaster NOS: «We simply cannot let this go. What happened is ridiculous and it is causing us enormous damage. We were aiming to secure three or four stage wins and we used the bicycles that we always use».

At the heart of the matter are the conflicting results from the various weighings carried out: «How is this possible? The first weighing showed a result of 70 grams below the allowed limit. But the weighing equipment, if it was used at altitude, must be recalibrated and apparently that did not happen. The second weighing showed 20 grams below the limit, while our weighing gave a result of 6.83 kilograms at the finish line. But we weighed the bike indoors, without wind, using our own equipment. Now we will do everything possible, including through legal means. It will be the UCI's no against our yes. They will receive a letter stating that we will hold them responsible for the damages we have suffered».
