Five races. Five victories. On Sunday, Tom Pidcock transformed Nové Město into his personal hunting ground once again, securing a commanding solo victory in the Elite men's XCO stage of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series in the Czech Republic.
Racing on one of the most iconic and demanding circuits in modern cross-country, the Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team rider attacked as early as the second lap, immediately stretching the race with relentless pace and high technical pressure. From that moment on, the Olympic champion never allowed the group to close back in.
Pidcock led the race solo for most of the course, combining explosive climbing power with calculated precision on technical descents, before crossing the finish line alone with arms raised in front of the Nové Město crowd, securing another World Cup triumph at a place where he continues to redefine the limits of modern cross-country.
"I think it was the hardest race I've ever done. I didn't make it easy for myself. I had an excellent start and was probably a bit too aggressive in the early laps," Pidcock said. "When Luca took the lead, I realized that was the moment when everyone was showing what they had, and I thought: 'Let me see what happens'. But it's a long race. Luca pushed me the entire race. He kept getting closer and I had to give my all several times."
The victory further underlined Pidcock's extraordinary versatility across different disciplines and the ever-rising level of modern mountain biking.
"My fitness is good, but when I haven't raced much, I need to be a bit more cautious compared to other periods of the season," he continued. "I think this shows that everyone is pushing hard, that everyone is improving and getting stronger. The level of this sport keeps rising. It keeps me on my toes because I can't rest on my laurels. These guys work just as hard."
Despite competing in only select races on the MTB calendar, Pidcock demonstrated once again his innate technical ability and explosive competitive instinct that have made him one of the most representative riders of his generation. "I used my climbing strength to make the difference and simply raced my race," he added.
The performance at Nové Město also highlighted the off-road ecosystem developed in collaboration with Q36.5, with Pidcock racing in his custom off-road apparel, directly inspired by the elite World Cup performance requirements.
The Q36.5 suit worn by Pidcock on race day featured a unique symbolic design: the European champion flag on the chest, the rainbow heritage of a former world champion, and the golden details of an Olympic champion, all integrated into one of the most advanced off-road race suits currently used in elite competition.
The upper part of the race suit uses the same advanced materials employed in the Q36.5 Dottore Clima suits currently used at the Giro d'Italia, transferring thermoregulation and breathability technologies proven at WorldTour level directly to the extreme demands of modern cross-country mountain biking.
