Alex Zanardi passed away yesterday, the man who transformed the perception of disability in Italy and one of the strongest and most successful athletes of recent decades. The president of the Italian Cycling Federation Cordiano Dagnoni, upon learning the news, expressed to his wife Daniela and son Nicolò his deepest condolences, also on behalf of the Federal Council, Secretary General Marcello Tolu, and the entire cycling family.

"Alex was able to transform the culture of our country, he gave joy and happiness to the people who had the fortune to know him and hope to many people in Italy and around the world. I believe these are the most important achievements, even more so than his numerous and incredible sporting successes. Without him we are all a little more alone. His smile remains, an imperishable legacy and an incentive never to give up, to look at life with the eyes and joy of a child".

At the invitation of President Cordiano Dagnoni, on the occasion of all races scheduled for the weekend, a minute of silence will be observed to honor the memory of the great champion.
