Paul Seixas is absolutely sensational. At just 19 years old, on his debut, he dominates the Flèche Wallonne like one of the greats. For the Decathlon Frenchman, it's his seventh professional victory (all in 2026) in 14 days of racing.
"It's incredible, this is a huge victory. I want to thank all my teammates who pedaled hard from the start, controlled the breakaways and kept me well-positioned in the key moments – says the young champion from Lyon, who has Portuguese roots -. I'm really happy, winning at my first participation is incredible! Last year I was still watching this race on TV".
Seixas took the lead in the final 800 meters on the third and decisive passage of the Mur de Huy: "This is the result of great teamwork. Our plan was to impose a high pace on the Mur de Huy, I knew I had to do that to wear out the other riders. I know I perform at my best when fatigue sets in. Then I continued by feel, watching the kilometer markers to understand how much was left to the finish line. I looked back and saw that everyone was at their limit. When they dropped back a bit, I told myself I had to give my all. I launched my attack 300 meters from the finish and I knew I had to keep going like that until the end".
On Sunday at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, let's prepare for a three-way battle with Pogacar and Evenepoel: "But that will be another story. I'll fight to be in the best possible position, today's result shows that I'm in excellent form". France, meanwhile, is already going crazy.
