The Flèche Wallonne changes its starting point; this year it moves to Herstal (start at 11:50), with the grand finale once again on the Mur de Huy: 200 kilometers to cover. The route features 11 climbs, such as the côte de Trasenster and the côte des Forges, followed by a challenging 37 km circuit around Huy, with the côtes of Ereffe, Cherave and the Mur de Huy, to be repeated three times. The terrible final climb of Huy measures 1400 meters with an average gradient of 9.7% and peaks of 24%. Not only legs and energy matter: positioning also plays a decisive role on the final climb.
In 2025, victory went to Tadej Pogacar in the world champion's jersey. From the côte de Cherave, when 7 km remained to the finish, the race opened up under the pressure of Pogacar's teammates, with the final acceleration from Swiss rider Christen. Evenepoel seemed perfectly positioned on the wheel of his great rival, but when Tadej accelerated at the start of the Mur, no one was able to follow him. Evenepoel was forced to lose ground and finished ninth, 16 seconds back. On the podium, Frenchman Vauquelin second at 10 seconds and British rider Pidcock third at 12 seconds. For Pogacar it was his second victory at the Flèche Wallonne after his 2023 win.
