Among the races that in 2026 will enrich the professional calendar in Italy and contribute to the growing capillarity of major cycling across our country's territories, in step with the expansion of the Coppa Italia delle Regioni, the project coordinated by the Professional Cycling League president Roberto Pella and the Conference of Italian Regions, there will be the Gran Premio del Lazio. A race that is entirely new, but which in the collective imagination will revive the history of the Giro del Lazio (of which you can see a photo above relating to Gianni Bugno's success in 1992).

Maria Spena, counselor for Sport e Salute, Terenzi assures that he will organize a highly challenging race that will showcase both endurance and power. Whoever wins will inaugurate a completely new roll of honor, that of the Gran Premio del Lazio, but will romantically fit into the legacy of the Giro del Lazio, last held in 2014 with Valverde's signature and which had seen names of the caliber of Bartali, Magni, Baldini, Gimondi, De Vlaeminck, Moser, Fondriest, Bugno, Tafi, Bartoli, Bettini succeed one another...
