There is a boom in registrations for the Capri Time Trial, the event that for the first time brings a cycling race to the island under the federation's auspices. In fact, the number of eighty registered athletes has been exceeded, the maximum threshold imposed by the organizers for the first edition of the event, desired by the municipal administration of Capri, led by Mayor Paolo Falco with the support of councilman Alberto Santarpia, delegate for sports, within the framework of the Capri Sport Events program, and promoted by the Biesse Group of Salvatore Belardo and the Black Panthers sports association, together with members of the Naples committee of the Italian Cycling Federation headed by president Francesco Vitiello.
In the end, given the presence of very young cyclists at the start, it was decided to waive the initially imposed limits and allow participation to all those who formalized their registration in time. They will be the ones to compete on Sunday, April 12 along a route that will offer some of Capri's most characteristic beauties as a backdrop: departure in the early afternoon from Marina Piccola, a distance of 2.2 kilometers with an elevation gain of 120 meters, finish in the piazzetta area, where also on Sunday, but at 11 a.m., the jerseys and protagonists of the event will be presented.
Among these, the ambassadors of the first Capri Time Trial, former athletes Sonny Colbrelli and Lello Ferrara. There is particular curiosity especially for the last Italian winner of Paris-Roubaix, on the very day when professional cyclists will compete in the 2026 edition of what is effectively one of the "monument classics" of world cycling.
