The 4th edition of the Cronoversilia takes place today, organized at the operational level by RCS and the Municipality of Camaiore with the Pedale Lucchese Poli. A gem of cycling reserved for the junior category that attracts qualified participation at the national level.
The first competitor will start on the seafront of Lido di Camaiore at 9:45 AM to head towards Marina di Pietrasanta and return after 11 km to the starting point. Essentially the same course that professional cyclists will face this afternoon in the first stage of the Tirreno Adriatico. A competition, won last year by European champion in team pursuit Riccardo Colombo, which serves as a showcase to allow promising cyclists to demonstrate their skills and endurance in front of Italian national team observers and professional team scouts.
A crucial platform also for Edoardo Agnini, in his first year in the category, who will be particularly followed by Lucca sports enthusiasts. He comes from an exciting season with 2nd place in the Italian junior time trial championship, which demonstrates that this is his specialty. The Lucca cyclist is already being followed by UAE Team Emirates, the team of Tadej Pogacar.
From an organizational standpoint, a great achievement for the Pedale Lucchese Poli, which thus sets in motion a complex logistical operation involving an entire support staff, working in close contact with RCS. Its leader Pierluigi Poli and his teams have dedicated themselves over time to discovering and developing young talents, the most recent being Edoardo Cipollini, offering opportunities for young riders to stand out. With this appointment, his passion for promoting cycling is being rewarded.
The Cronoversilia is only in its 4th edition but athletes of great caliber have already made their mark in the short roll of honor. In 2023, the now twenty-one-year-old Ligurian Luca Giaimi won (in the photo with national coach Dino Salvoldi), promoted just days ago to the first team of UAE Team Emirates XRG with a contract until 2028. In 2024, another Ligurian won instead: Lorenzo Mark Finn, considered by many to be the greatest Italian talent for the future, having demonstrated precocity and consistent results in youth categories.
