Everything is ready for the 63rd Trofeo Laigueglia presented by Coop Liguria, scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The Ligurian classic, now in its 63rd edition, attracts 24 teams from 13 countries to the start line, confirming itself as one of the first major appointments of professional European cycling at the beginning of the season.
The participation will be of great caliber: 9 UCI WorldTour formations, the "Serie A" of international cycling, plus 10 UCI ProTeam and 5 UCI Continental teams. Among the WorldTour teams at the start: Bahrain Victorious, EF Education–EasyPost, Groupama–FDJ, Lotto–Intermarché, NSN Cycling Team, Soudal Quick-Step, Team Jayco AlUla, UAE Team Emirates and XDS Astana Team.
Many important names among the foreign riders on the list, including Richard Carapaz, Michael Storer, Marc Hirschi, Romain Gregoire, Benoit Cosnefroy, Felix Grossschartner, Wout Poels, David Gaudu, Alex Aranburu, Mikkel Honoré, as well as young talents such as Antonio Morgado, Adria Pericas, Pablo Torres and Gustave Blanc.
Notable presences among Italian riders as well with Christian Scaroni, Diego Ulissi, Simone Velasco, Alessandro Covi, Andrea Vendrame, Lorenzo Rota, Gianmarco Garofoli, Davide De Pretto, Alessandro Verre, Fausto Masnada, Filippo Conca, Marco Frigo, Alessandro Pinarello, Samuele Battistella, Luca Paletti, Simone Gualdi and Davide Donati.
The race is supported by title sponsor Coop Liguria, a distribution company present in Liguria and Lower Piedmont with over 50 retail outlets, 2,700 employees and almost 400,000 members, and by partners such as Suzuki, Massigen, Acqua Eva, Caffè Borbone, Icose Spa, Ditta F.lli Garofalo and Diamant DMT. The technical organization of the 63rd Trofeo Laigueglia presented by Coop Liguria, for which the Municipality of Laigueglia holds the registered trademark, is entrusted to ExtraGiro Race, a sports group chaired by Marco Selleri and already responsible for the technical organization of the event in 2023 and 2024.
The 63rd Trofeo Laigueglia presented by Coop Liguria is part of the 2026 Coppa Italia delle Regioni, the third edition of the challenge coordinated by the Professional Cycling League between the best Italian and international cycling teams, included in the UCI ProSeries circuit and in the UCI Europe Tour calendar.
Start from Albenga, finish in Laigueglia: a route between tradition and innovation
The 192 km route with 2,900 meters of elevation gain combines some aspects of tradition with significant innovations. For the first time, the start is from Albenga, with the official start on Via Enrico d'Aste (adjacent to Piazza San Michele) and the start village in Piazza del Popolo, with the aim of creating synergy that, as happens in major international sporting events, allows local administrations to work together and share resources and opportunities to ensure the continuity of major events such as the Trofeo Laigueglia.
After a first passage through Laigueglia, the race faces in sequence Capo Mele, Capo Cervo and Capo Berta, then crosses Imperia and tackles the Cipressa, the iconic climb of the Milan-San Remo (5.6 km with an average gradient of 4% and peaks over 7%).
Another innovation is represented by the inclusion of a 12.6 km section on the Ciclovia Riviera dei Fiori, awarded the Green Road Award 2025 and built on the former coastal railway route. An infrastructure symbol of Ligurian sustainable mobility, now a reference point for cycle tourism and daily low-impact travel. Its presence in the route strengthens the link between professional cycling, territorial promotion and the enhancement of cycling networks.
The race then tackles Capo Berta, Capo Cervo and Capo Mele in reverse, until reaching Laigueglia for a first climb of Colla Micheri (2 km, average gradient 8%). After the descent, riders face Testico (7 km, gradient 4.6%) and Cima Paravenna (7.3 km, gradient 5.2%) before descending to Villanova d'Albenga and returning to Laigueglia, taking Via Monaco to the Colla Micheri circuit, the decisive climb, which is repeated three times in the final. The finish in Laigueglia is on Corso Badarò, a return to tradition on the waterfront of the beautiful Ligurian village.
