She was the strongest sprinter in the group of athletes who animated the Samyn Ladies and Lara Gillespie secured the victory in the Belgian race without any problems. The Irish rider in UAE Team ADQ colors, second yesterday at the Omloop van het Hageland, outsprinted Marthe Goossens (AG Insurance - Soudal Team) and Marthe Truyen (Fenix-Premier Tech). In the top-10 of the day, after working hard in the breakaway, also Alessia Vigilia (Uno-X Mobility) who crossed the finish line in Dour in eighth position.

The group of athletes, competing today in the third consecutive race in Belgium, remained compact for a long time but, with attacks and counter-attacks about fifty kilometers from the finish, ten athletes escaped from the peloton: Alessia Vigilia (Uno-X Mobility), Kamilla Aasebø (Uno-X Mobility), Elynor Bäckstedt (UAE Team ADQ), Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ), Marthe Truyen (Fenix-Premier Tech), Marta Jaskulska (Human Powered Health), Marthe Goossens (AG Insurance - Soudal Team), Caroline Andersson (Liv AlUla Jayco), Quinty Ton (Liv AlUla Jayco) and Amber van der Hulst (VolkerWessels).

The advantage of the breakaway riders increased and at 40 kilometers from the finish, radiotour reported a gap of 2'00" on the group while at the bell, when 25 kilometers remained to the finish, the timer showed 1'37" of gap to recover for the peloton.  

On the last passage through the Côte de la Roquette in the group of attackers, the battle began: Andersson, Ton and Vigilia moved in rapid succession and with their attacks they put van der Hulst in difficulty, who lost contact.

At the entrance to the cobbled sector of the Cote de Nonette, Alessia Vigilia attempted a new attack but was unable to surprise her opponents; at the same moment the group of sprinters was reported to be over 2 minutes behind.

The last cobblestones of the day, those of Rue de Belle Vue, confirmed that the nine attackers would be fighting for the victory.
