The journey continues towards the 27th Trofeo Alfredo Binda – Comune di Cittiglio (UCI Women's WorldTour) and the 13th Piccolo Trofeo Alfredo Binda – Valli del Verbano (UCI Nations' Cup Junior Women) with an event dedicated to sports heritage and cultural enhancement of the territory.
On Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at 5:00 PM, in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Cittiglio, the short film "Come to the Binda Museum!" will be presented for the first time. This audiovisual project is promoted by the Comunità Montana Valli del Verbano as part of the "Come to the Museum!" initiative, designed to enhance the museum network of the Valli del Verbano through contemporary language accessible to new generations. The initiative is aimed at families, young people, and enthusiasts, bringing the public closer to the history of the territory and sport through new narrative forms. The event represents another important piece of the cultural journey that accompanies the Trofeo Binda throughout the year, strengthening the bond between sport, history, and community.
The initiative has received strong support from Simone Castoldi, President of the Comunità Montana Valli del Verbano, who emphasized how the Trofeo Binda has become over the years an extraordinary international showcase for the territory: a project capable of enhancing the beauty of Alto Verbano and generating sports, educational, and cultural benefits thanks to the organizational work of Cycling Sport Promotion and the attention paid to youth, safety, and environmental sustainability.
The short film, directed by filmmaker Valentina Malcotti, features actors Enzo dè Liguoro and Alessandra dè Liguoro alongside children from the "Gianoli" primary school in Laveno Mombello, who are the true protagonists of the filming and the story, directly involved in an educational experience that combines sports heritage, territorial discovery, and active participation. The young participants will be present in the hall to share with the audience the journey they experienced during the film's production.
The program includes institutional greetings, the screening of the short film, interventions from the authors, and a historical deepening dedicated to the figure of Alfredo Binda, curated by science communicator Luca Carraro. At the end of the meeting, it will be possible to visit the Alfredo Binda Museum, which will be exceptionally open from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
The appointment represents one of the most significant cultural moments in the calendar leading up to the races on March 15th, confirming how the Trofeo Alfredo Binda is able to combine international competition with a permanent path of cultural and identity enhancement of the territory.
For Mario Minervino, president of Cycling Sport Promotion, initiatives like this represent the essence of the Trofeo Binda project: an event that unites international competition and cultural enhancement, keeping alive the memory of one of the greatest champions in Italian cycling and transmitting the values of sport to new generations.
The mayor of Cittiglio, Rossella Magnani, highlighted how the Binda Museum represents an identity landmark for the community and a place capable of connecting the history of the champion to the growth of contemporary women's cycling.
The initiative, organized by the Comunità Montana Valli del Verbano in collaboration with the Alfredo Binda Museum, the Municipality of Cittiglio, and Cycling Sport Promotion A.S.D., is free admission.
The journey of anticipation will continue towards the international appointment on Sunday, March 15th, when the world's best female cyclists will once again be the protagonists on the roads of the province of Varese between Luino and Cittiglio.
