The emerging spring will greet the upcoming reopening, for the year 2026, after the winter closure, of a place of strong cycling symbolism, but not only, such as the Ghisallo Cycling Museum, presenting the panorama of snow-capped peaks that are reflected in "that branch of Lake Como" (the Lecco branch), of Manzonian memory.
And 2026 marks the twentieth anniversary of the inauguration of this achievement, dreamed up and curated by the great Fiorenzo Magni, who with his unique ability and decisive will and the contribution of various institutions involved by the "third man" of Italian cycling and who, after various management experiences, since 2014 has been carried forward, with passion and expertise, by the current president of the Museum, the Como native, born in Eupilio in 1944, Antonio Molteni, a "working president" one might rightly say, and by his volunteers – a definition to be understood literally – who support him and share his long and articulate cycling passion, from his experience as a good-level cyclist and then banking executive, in full harmony and accord, who always answer "present" to the various needs of the events calendar, beyond ordinary maintenance activities.
Each of these brings their own contribution of knowledge, including professional expertise, in the various tasks and services they are called upon to perform in different circumstances, even during the winter closure period.
A well-coordinated team with the director, Carola Gentilini and Luciana Rota as press officer, which also directs attention to the valorization of the "Larian triangle" territory with the "pearl" of Bellagio at its center, an international attraction.
On this occasion we wish to make known at least the names of the core group of volunteers who constitute the backbone of the structure and who always operate, with competence and discretion, according to circumstances, in different and multiple roles, perhaps sometimes also with the G.S. Ghisallo which in the small but truly iconic, namesake, church-sanctuary, houses the memory of names and objects of considerable significance in Italian cycling history.
Here are the names, and surnames too, of the "unknown soldiers" volunteers, let's call them that, of the Cycling Museum, in no particular order: Giancarlo Bondi, Arturo Binda, Graziano Pellizzoni, Maurizio Galli, Antonio Terraneo, Renzo Ostinelli, Claudio Masciadri, Marco Longhi, with the "women's quota" represented by Mariangela Pedraglio, Enrica Riogamonti, Francesca Fazio. All of them, without exception, are passionate about two wheels, and some even boast good sporting cycling experience.
And all arrive at the upcoming inauguration with renewed vigor and commitment.
They deserve everyone's thanks, accompanied by the sound of the sanctuary bells dedicated to them, as when races pass by from there.
