We had already seen he was in good form in previous races, but today Antonio Tiberi won the success that could give him an extra push towards his dream goals: the Lazio rider from Bahrain Victorious won by a breakaway the third stage of the UAE Tour, the Umm al Quwain - Jebel Mobrah of 183 km with a mountain finish.
Tiberi attacked 4.3 km from the conclusion, initially riding with Plapp, Tejada and Gall, and then broke away alone while the race's big favorites, Isaac Del Toro and Remco Evenepoel, experienced opposite moments. While the Mexican overcame a slight difficult moment, recovering all his rivals to secure second place, the Belgian struggled on the first major climb of the season and lost significant ground.
Del Toro ultimately lost 15 seconds, Van Eetvelt finished third at 29", followed by Tejada, Gall and Tobias Johannessen. Evenepoel finished 18th at 2'04" from Tiberi, who also took the leader's jersey.
THE RACE. Jonas Rickaert and Silvain Dillier from Alpecin - Premier Tech had a two-man breakaway that the peloton essentially neutralized at the foot of the climb, when the big teams started their final maneuvers.
