Yesterday, at the age of 93, King Liu, the visionary founder of Giant Group, one of the most influential and impactful figures in cycling entrepreneurship, passed away.
He is credited with creating one of the most recognized brands in the world of two wheels, a brand that he personally contributed to making a major international player since its founding in 1972, by focusing on "quality and a clear long-term vision".
Through his work and progressive outlook, Liu helped, as Giant specified, "to introduce the world to the strength and capabilities of Taiwan's cycling industry", based on the conviction that bicycles "were not just a business, but a lifestyle rich with meaning".
This allowed Liu, labeled as a "missionary of cycling culture", to create an increasingly solid reality built on very high qualitative standards, characteristics that have made Giant - through its various subsidiary units Liv, Momentum, and Cadex - a company with a turnover close to 1.4 billion euros.
